Stereo photographs in cultural heritage

Task group focus :

This CIPA Task Group shall succeed the RecorDIM Task Group 6 on “Collecting, Compiling and Sharing Heritage Stereo Views”. According to the objectives of CIPA it is the main intention of this task group, to provide objective information for cultural monuments and sites by 3D photographs.

Though 3D photographs, also known as stereo views, are a well established basic photogrammetric tool, they are still a matter of research and improvement. Beside their high documentary value (“quasi real”) for recording and outstanding perceptional monitoring of cultural heritage, as well as for preservation and restoration of any architectural or other cultural monuments, objects or sites, 3D photographs support architectural, archaeological and other art-historical research, as required by CIPA.
